Kelingking Beach is one of the most popular Bali Places of Interest, Even if you don’t want to go all the way down, take the small path that goes down along the ridge line, at least for a few meters. You will be much quieter and the photos will be much better. Another piece of advice, take your photos before going down, you will probably be less photogenic after climbing back. The first part of the trail, along the ridge line to the first turn is also quite easy. And you can check there if you have the courage to go all the way down to the beach. If you have children, you may want to stop there. And rather go to Crystal Bay or Atuh Beach, which are more accessible with children.

How to Get to Kelingking Beach

The easiest option for getting to Kelingking Beach is to hop on a speedboat from Sanur Beach to Nusa Penida Island. And the island, which is accessible via a 40 to 50-minute boat ride. There are some operators that do speed boat transfers from Sanur Beach to Nusa Penida Island and back. The speed boat ticket IDR is 175,000 per person for each way, and can be bought at the pier and leave at least once a day starting. There is a public ferry Padang Bai in East Bali, and the cost is much cheaper than a speed boat, but taking around 2 hours to reach the island. A passenger ferry ticket is IDR 31,000 per person for each way and can be purchased at 10.00 am inside the building marked "Loket".

What to Expect at Kelingking Beach

Kelingking beach was only discovered in 2003 by a few backpackers who traveled through Nusa Penida. The place was still untouched back then but since it became more and more popular they started to build out the area. However, the whole island is still undeveloped compared to Bali so don’t expect perfect pathways or fancy restaurants. After you park your scooter/car you need to pay a small entrance fee to access Kelingking Beach. There is a built concrete platform not far away from the parking lot from where you can safely enjoy the breathtaking view. Fun fact: Kelingking means “Pinkie” in English, as the smallest finger on the hand. I’m not so sure why they came up with that name because the shape of the cliff rather looks like a T-Rex than a little finger.

Kelingking Beach History

Kelingking Beach was first discovered in 2003 by foreign tourists from the Czech Republic and Australia. At that time this area was still a bush that had not been visited as a tourist spot. Parta added that the Czech tourists knew about the Kelingking Beach area while diving. From the sea he saw this place he said was good for tourist attractions. From the height of the cliffs, indeed Kelingking Beach looks short but is actually very wide, the width of the beach is around 80 meters with fine white sand.

If sea water is receding visitors can see manta rays swimming around the beach. The origin of the name of the Kelingking Beach is where the local people see the shape of a coral like the middle finger of a human, so the local community calls the kelingking beach. Kelingking in English means Pinkie finger, the origin of the Kelingking name comes from the shape of the rock on the beach that looks like Pinkie finger and the local people named this place with the name of the Kelingking beach. In addition to the guest term given to this place, guests often refer to this place as dinosaurs, due to the rock also seen as being shaped like a dinosaur.

Here you can also go down to swim, but it takes effort to go down a small and steep road to the bottom. Kelingking Beach is now the most popular tourist attraction on the island of Nusa Penida, with its natural beauty and incredibly beautiful scenery for photography, many tourists come here to enjoy this amazingly beautiful view and also many tourists who come down to find out clearer this hidden beach with a stretch of white sand that stretches along the rock, with waves that are not big, making this place very ideal for swimming.

Access to the beach is very difficult, because going down a very steep path going down, maybe going down doesn't require excessive effort, it's different from going back up, it will require excessive stamina. Maybe you often see on the internet, if you are looking for information about Nusa Penida, the first thing that appears is Kelingking Beach, this is because the first Kelingking Beach is very well known by foreign tourists, many tourists come here to take photos with a rock background which is phenomenally beautiful. and very instagrammable.
